A piece of equipment belonging to a tree service caused a fire hydrant to burst open Wednesday afternoon.
The piece of equipment struck the hydrant in the 4000 block of Newportville Road in Bristol Township late Wednesday afternoon. The damaged hydrant began spewing water until a crew from the water company came in and turned off the hydrant.

Due to the incident, fire police closed Newportville Road from New Falls Road to Zimmerman Lane until about 5:30 p.m.
