The Bristol Borough School Board passed their 2016-2017 operating budget Monday night.
The $23,026,882 spending plan will not include a tax increase. According to comment before the vote, this is the third year in a row where no tax increase was necessary for the district. The average property owner already pays $2,500 per year in taxes to the district.

Although there was no increase in taxes, the board holds that more funding from the state is necessary in the future. The district is seeing increasing employee benefit costs and operating expenses.
Board President Kelly Cochran ended vote by urging constituents to reach out to state legislators and make the need for increased funding known.
“This is a great job, but there is still a lot of work to do,” said board member John D’Angelo.

All seven members of the board who were present voted in favor of the budget. Board members Steve Cullen and Ralph Diguiseppe III were not present and did not vote for the budget.
