Bristol Borough hasย a new barbershop to aid in theย revitalization of Mill Street.
Since May 2015, business partners Paul Sharkey and Jeff Davis have been preparing for the opening of Sharkey’s Barbershop in Bristol. This month, their efforts were realized when the shop opened.

“It was a large undertaking,” Sharkey said, adding the shop will focus on traditional services and traditional ways of doing things.
The barbering will be undertaken and overseen by Joe “The Barber” Starling. According to Sharkey, Starling has more than 10 years experience barbering and is truly an enthusiast for the old ways of doing things.
“There’s a lot to be taken from the traditional ways of doing things,” Sharkey said. Sharkey and Davis have been building old cars since they were teenagers, and Sharkey mentions that the traditional streak that runs through them likely came from restoring the classic cars.

Davis and Sharkey have been in the same Philly music scene for years and Sharkey mentioned that going into business together was a “no-brainer” ย decision for the duo.
The business will operate on a traditional men’s barbershop model. The shopย will carry products that the owners and staff believe in and personally use. Describing the shop as “a barbershop for gentlemen,” the businessย is focusing on men’s haircuts. They will only cut the hair of men aged 16 and older in order to better suit their customers with their skill sets.
According to Sharkey, the shop wants to supply the highest level serviceย they feel borough residents deserve.

Sharkey said the shop is also operating on a no appointments basis. Taking only walk-ins, the owners want to make sure clients feel welcome and are excited to come get their hair cut.
“It shouldn’t be a chore to get your hair cut; it should be something you look forward to,” Sharkey said. “We don’t believe the barbershop should be a place where you need to make an appointment to come see us.”
The actual construction and renovation of the shop is something that Sharkey, Davis, and Starling have been working on since last May. According to Sharkey, the three have been living and breathing the shop while they did all of the renovations themselves.

The store will be open Tuesday through Friday from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. and will be open on Saturday from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m.
Sharkey stressed that if you show up wanting a haircut, you won’t be turned away from Sharkey’s Barbershop, even if you show up a minute before the prescribed closing time.
