The 7th annual Que for the Troops and Family Festival is set for the upcoming weekend in Falls Township.

This year’s event – held on June 3 and June 4 – will feature 75 barbecue teams vying for dominance at Falls Township Community Park.

The Que for the Troops is an official Kansas City Barbecue Society sanctioned event, according to organizers. More than $12,000 will be awarded for different categories, including pork, chicken, ribs, brisket and the anything butt and dessert competitions.

According to released information, the event has raised more than $65,000 since it began in 2010 for Liberty USO, a nonprofit supporting “active duty, National Guard and reserve military personnel and their families in Pennsylvania and South Jersey.”

“We hope to far surpass last year’s success,” said Jeff Dence, the Falls Township Board of Supervisors vice chairman. “It’s hard to believe that what began as a backyard contest with 11 teams competing for bragging rights has evolved into 75 teams and $12,000 in prize money.”

The event will also feature a chicken wing eating contest, a mechanical bull, a car show, live music, fireworks, and activities for kids, including inflatable rides and face painting.
