Bristol Township residents got rid of a huge amount of junk earlier this month at Bristol Township’s Spring Cleanup Weekend.
On May 14 and 15, residents of Bristol Township were able to drop off their junk at the Municipal Complex on Bath Road. During the event, volunteers worked to make sure trash got to where it was supposed to go, while items like TVs and computers were recycled appropriately.

According to a press release form the Bristol Township officials, more than 400 residents took advantage of the service to help them get rid of their garbage.
“The residents came out and filled 16 dumpsters to their limit, the largest amount collected during a single cleanup event,” said Scott Swichar, Bristol Township’s Recycling Coordinator.
“It was a huge success,” said Council President Craig Bowen. Bowen said he helped unload vehicles for a couple of hours one day and noted the line of participants was constant. Residents stuffed the dumpsters to the brim with old furniture, trash, appliances, and recycled plenty of old computers and more than 100 televisions over the weekend.

The event was free for residents, and the end all cost was pretty low as well thanks to the number of volunteers and donating businesses that contributed, officials said. Several businesses donated food and water to keep volunteers fueled throughout the weekend.
“While hundreds of residents came out to dispose of their household trash, this event really benefits everyone since it prevents tons of bulky items, like old sofas, mattresses, and televisions from being dumped illegally along the road or in our open space,” said Bowen.

“Our efforts are really paying off as our properties are littered with less junk and our greenbelts and streets are much cleaner,” concluded the council president.
