Suspect Detained Following Police Chase

UPDATE: The Suspect Has Been Charged

A suspect was taken into custody after a police chase Wednesday evening.

The pursuit began on northbound Route 1 around 6:50 p.m. after law enforcement spotted a car that was reported stolen from the Shoppes at Flowers Mill in Middletown, authorities said.

The chase ended on Route 1 near the Morrisville and Falls Township border not long after it started.

Pennsylvania State Police were on the scene along with Falls, Middletown and Morrisville officers. From witness accounts, it appeared the stolen vehicle was surrounded by officers and the driver was in custody.

Police said the driver would likely be charged late Wednesday or early Thursday.

Traffic on Route 1 was backed up due to the crash for a period of time but had cleared by 8:30 p.m.
