Police are investigating an arson fire that destroyed a BMW and came dangerously close to a building early Sunday morning.

The fire happened shortly after midnight in the 5800 block of Bristol-Emilie Road near the intersection with Green Lane in Bristol Township’s Levittown section.

Fire Marshal Kevin Dippolito said the fire that destroyed a 2006 BMW and spread to a nearby pine tree was ruled an arson.

The fire was extinguished by firefighters and was stopped before it could cause any serious damage to a structure near the burning car and tree.

Detectives are probing the fire and have the car at the police station for further review, Lt. Terry Hughes said.

Anyone with information on the fire is asked to call Detective Jason Callahan at 267-812-3041.
