Court papers stated that Wilczynski started the blaze that was fueled by gasoline on the carpet in the basement at his parents’ house in the 900 block of Avenue F in Middletown’s Parkland section on November 23 last year. The fire caused damage to the house but no injuries were reported.

The fire came after Wilczynski threatened to kill his mother’s dogs and said he wanted to entice the police to shoot him, according to court papers.
One of Wilczynski’s family members reportedly called police to alert them of the 23 year old’s threats to kill his mother’s dogs. Within minutes, smoke was spotted coming from the Avenue F home.

Wilczynski walked away from the fire and was taken into custody by police. When he was being detained, he fought with officers and had to be pepper sprayed, police said.
Wilczynski smelled of smoke and had fire-singed-hair.
