Tuition for Bucks County Community College will be increasing starting this fall.

The per credit price for Bucks County residents goes from $135 to $140 starting this fall. Tuition for out-of-Bucks County Pennsylvania residents will raise by $10 to $280 per credit and by $15 to 420 for out-of-state residents.

The move came Thursday after a unanimous of the college’s Board of Trustees.

“The college made some very difficult decisions in crafting this budget, however, Bucks continues to be a great value with strong academic programs,” said Dr. Stephanie Shanblatt, the college’s president. “Additional support from the County of Bucks, the college’s local sponsor, helped keep the increase to only 2.9%.”

Board chairman Jim Dancy said the tuition increase was a “last option.” He added that the board was “extremely reluctant to raise tuition, but take this measure only after every action possible to reduce operating costs has been made while continuing to provide the high quality education that has earned Bucks a national reputation.”

According to college officials, all other college fees will remain the same.

In 2015, the board also voted to raise the tuition by $5 per credit for Bucks County residents.
