Plan For Bristol Twp. Schools To Be Discussed

BTSDThe Bristol Township School District will be discussing the future of six elementary schools that will be closing this summer.

Officials told LevittownNow.com that an advisory committee will gather March 30 at 6 p.m. in the district board room at the Benjamin Franklin School on Mill Creek Road.

The committee will feature district staff and citizens discussing the future of the buildings, which will close when the district’s neighborhood schools are consolidated into three new regional elementary schools.

A previous advisory committee met in 2015 to discus the schools. The Bucks County Redevelopment Authority was also involved in coming up with plans for the sites.

The Bucks County Redevelopment Authority will not be involved with the March 30 meeting, and it is unclear if they will be involved in the process down the road, Superintendent Dr. Melanie Gehrens said.

At various points over the past few years, district officials have said various opportunities for the buildings will be considered, including selling some or all of the properties.
