On Monday evening, Bristol Borough Council recognized Arnold Porter, the town’s recently retired former police chief.
Porter’s family and department, were present for his recognition, which was led by Council Vice President Betty Rodriguez and Mayor Pat Sabatini.

“It’s an honor to stand here to be able to say goodbye and good luck to you,” Rodriguez said.
“I just want to wish you all the best in retirement,” Sabatini said.
Sgt. Joe Moors, who has been acting as the borough’s officer in charge since Porter’s retirement, also gave a few words about Porter’s time in the borough. Among his comments, he noted the ongoing search for a new chief. “There are some seriously large shoes this council needs to fill,” he said.

Before it was all said and done, Porter got a chance to speak about the town he has come to love. “I never believed this day would come. It’s truly difficult walking away from a job you truly love. But let me tell you, the first three weeks have been great,” the former chief joked.
“There’s always going to be a special place in my heart for Bristol Borough,” Porter said, mentioning that he will continue to have a large presence in the borough on various committees.
