The Neshaminy School Board is scheduled to vote on upgrades to two of its schools.
At a Monday evening meeting, the school board will vote on whether to hire Reynolds Energy Services to upgrade Joseph Ferderbar Elementary School and Poquessing Middle School, both in Lower Southampton. The vote for Phase II of the multi-part project will follow last year’s upgrades to three Middletown schools as part of Pennsylvania’s Guaranteed Energy Savings Act (GESA).

The work will include new security features at the schools, replacement windows and doors to save energy, improved HVAC systems and upgrades electronics at the buildings, Damion Spahr of Reynolds said. He added that emergency generators would also be installed.
Phase II of the GESA project will cost Neshaminy several million dollars.
Last year’s energy upgrades to Herbert Hoover Elementary School, Carl Sandburg Middle School and Albert Schweitzer Elementary School in Middletown all are expected save money over the next two decades.

A third phase of the GESA project could eventually bring upgrades to other Neshaminy schools.
