A home was badly damaged by a fire Thursday morning in Middletown.
A resident of 827 Walsh Avenue noticed around 9:10 a.m. that their home was ablaze. They dial 9-1-1 and area firefighters rushed to the scene, which is not far from Middletown’s Firefighters’ Park in Parkland.

Township Fire Marshal Jim McGuire was first to arrive at the house and spotted flames extending from the exterior to the inside.
The home suffered damage to the exterior and interior during the fire.
McGuire credits quick-responding firefighters for knocking down the flames and keeping them in check.

A heating oil tank near the flames did suffer a small leaked but remained relatively undamaged by the flames, McGuire said.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation and an electrical expert is being called in to assist.
