A homeless man was killed in a fire early Sunday morning.

Bristol Township Fire Marshal Kevin Dippolito said the 63-year-old man was inside a 22-foot-long motorhome parked behind Michael’s Rugs and Carpet in the 6900 block of Route 13.

The motorhome was parked behind the carpet business and was totally destroyed by the blaze. Firefighters were dispatched to the motor home at 1:47 a.m.

The cause of the flames appears to be accidental, but the final ruling is dependent on autopsy results, Dippolito said.

The motorhome was donated to the residents of the homeless camp behind the carpet store in fall 2014. The motorhome had rotted floors and a dead battery when it was left there. While Dippolito said the man killed was the only person staying in the vehicle Sunday morning, several people had stayed in the motor home in the past.

Police said a detective is assisting Dippolito in his investigation.
