The Middletown Parks and Recreation Department is encouraging area residents to come out and voice their opinion on an upcoming park master plan.

A park master plan, which is a blueprint for future development and growth, is currently being put together to create a new public park at the Spring Valley Farm property, a large 10-plus acre property located at 800 Walnut Avenue.

The public is asked to attend and voice their opinion on the plansย from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Middletown Township Municipal Building at 3 Municipal Way on Wednesday February 17.

Spring Valley Farm, which was purchased three years agoย by Middletown with funding from the Bucks County Municipal Open Space Program and Penndel Borough, includes a bank barn, bank house, spring house, rolling lawn, woodlands, steep slopes and a creek.

According to the Parks and Recreation Department, the goal of the initiative is to put in place a guide for future stewardship and potentially adding facilities to the property.

“Public participation and input will be critical to the process’ plans and the creation of a new facility to serve the townships residents,” noted a recent township release.

The Spring Valley Farm Steering Committee, which has met three times since June, has been working alongside the Parks & Recreation Department, landscape architect and planners Stromberg Garrigan and Associates and park planner Toole Recreation Planning to provide a community vision for the project, according to Recreation Program Coordinator Paul Kopera.

“The Spring Valley Farm could afford our Parks & Recreation Department to connect people to nature and environmental programs. Within that scope, we consider the location of Spring Valley Farm in relation to Core Creek Park, nearby nature centers and state parks. We do not want to duplicate services and facilities in close proximity,” said Kopera. “Itโ€™s important for Spring Valley Farm to have a unique identity in the community.”
