Malik, an attorney and former assistant district attorney, has always felt a desire to seek justice in society.

“It’s something that has always been in the back of my mind,” Malik said, referencing his desire to become involved on the political spectrum. The idea finally crystallized in the winter spanning 2007 and 2008 when he was in Iraq serving in the armed services. Malik then decided for sure that he would run for office.

He withdrew his name during his first campaign for congress a few years back, but on Dec. 7, 2015 – Pearl Harbor Day- Malik announced his campaign for the 2016 election.
