UPDATED: Forecasters Warn Of ‘Intense Winter Storm’ That Could Dump More Than A Foot Of Snow

The National Weather Service has issued a Blizzard Watch for Lower Bucks County in advance of the storm.

The National Weather Weather service is predicting 12 to 18 inches of snow could fall on the Levittown area this week.

The latest forecast that was released Thursday morning shows increasing confidence from the National Weather Service that a significant snow storm would impact the region. Forecasters said they predict the storm would roll in by Friday evening and continue through Sunday morning.

Forecasters warned the “intense winter storm” could cause power outages and will bring strong winds to the area. Wind gusts could reach as high as 35 MPH during the height of the storm.

“[The snow] may be dry and fluffy at the start, by it will become wetter and heavier as the event unfolds. Shoveling may be problematic for those with physical ailments,” forecasters warned.

A Winter Storm Watch has been issued for the region. It will begin Friday and end Sunday.

The storm is expected to have a major impact throughout the Mid-Atlantic region.
