The spirit of the holiday season is alive and well in Bucks County.
The United Way of Bucks County announced Tuesday that their Holiday Gift Card Drive that benefits 450 older kids and teens who may not otherwise have a gift this year reached its goal despite nearly doubling the amount of recipients year over year.

With help from LevittownNow.com readers and local businesses like the ShopRite of Fairless Hills, donations were made and cards were dropped at the United Way of Bucks County’s local office in Falls Township. The donations came in to help the 450 kids and teens on this year’s list.
The Holiday Gift Card Drive, which is led by the United Way’s Danielle Bush, came about several years ago when it was learned that while many younger children receive gifts through various programs around the season, hundreds of kids over the age of 13 receive few to no age appropriate gifts since many organizations have a cut off age for gifts received.
The program helps those older kids and teens who are usually the hardest to shop for and the most overlooked during the giving season.

The collected gift cards are in various amounts starting at $5. They are for clothing stores, fast food eateries, coffee shops, entertainment venues and other businesses in our area.
