Following a lengthy budget presentation Thursday evening in the newly renovated Bristol Township council chambers, the council unanimously voted to hold the line on taxes for the fifth year in a row.
The township passed a millage rate of 23.98 mills and a budget totaling nearly $53 million, , averaging about $428.69 in real estate taxes for the average homeowner.

The finalized 2016 budget, which is a $15 million decrease in spending from 2015, will account for several improvements to township headquarters, a $1 million investment to remove blighted properties, a $6 million investment in the wastewater treatment plan, the addition of two township police officers and two laborer positions within the public works department, necessary funding for police department accreditation, and $100,000 granted to area volunteer fire departments through the way of ‘Glasson Grants’.
Joseph Glasson, a council member and longtime volunteer firefighter, has advocated for several years for greater funding for area departments.
