No there wasn’t a national emergency. The military members and trucks were in the heart of Levittown as part of a charity event.
The thirdย annual American Dream Realty sponsoredย Toys for Tots collection and coin netted a large turnout over the weekend.

The goal for fundraising was to raise money and collect toys for kids who otherwise would likely not get gifts this Christmas. Volunteers descended upon the Levittown Parkway and New Falls Road intersection on Saturday and Sunday to collect money from passerby cars.
“We’re only an hour and a half into it and we have a couple thousand dollars and a ton of toys,” Jeff Lister, one of the owners of American Dream Realty explained. “We just wanted to give back to the community and help people out,” Lister said.
A number of volunteers came to help the fundraising effort, including boy and cub scouts from pack 316, an antique car club and Electrical Union 209.

“Since we’ve started doing this, people have reached out letting us know they want to help,” Lister said.
On Saturday, the collection event gathered enough toys to fill the back of a seven-ton truck that belongs to the Marines and raised $18,000.
