State Authorities Charge Levittown Woman With Insurance Fraud

A 26-year-old Levittown woman was charged by the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office after an insurance fraud investigation.

Danielle Michels, 26, of Falls Township’s Levittown section, was charged with insurance fraud and theft by deception, according to the attorney general’s office.

Authorities alleged Michels’ boyfriend was driving her uninsured vehicle when a crash occurred in May 2013.

“Following the accident, Michels allegedly obtained an insurance policy for the vehicle through Progressive Insurance. She later attempted to submit a claim in which she said the accident occurred after she obtained the policy, but investigators said the claim was false,” according to a press release.

Michels was charged along with 14 others across the state as part of several unrelated insurance fraud investigations. Attorney General Kathleen Kane’s office has been working to investigate and prosecute insurance fraud.
