A Piece of My Heart, by Shirley Lauro, first premiered in New York at the Manhattan Theater Club, and has now enjoyed over 1,000 productions here and abroad. It was recently named “The most enduring play on Vietnam in the nation” by the Vietnam Veterans Association.

The play is a powerful, true drama of six women who went to Vietnam: 3 nurses, an army officer, a donut dolly, and a country western singer (booked by an unscrupulous agent to entertain the troops.) The play portrays each young woman before, during, and after her tour in the war-torn nation and ends as each woman leaves a personal token at the memorial wall in Washington.

When asked as to why she selected this play for the Fall Drama, Director Mary Kay Everett said, “It gives the cast and crew and audience a new insight into an era and issue that they have heard about but not viewed from this perspective.”

This play, originally performed in the Spring of this year, will be showcased at the upcoming Pennsylvania State Thespian Festival in York, PA on December 3rd.
