Several Departments Involved In Search For Man Suspected Of Being Armed

A domestic-related incident Saturday afternoon led to a police pursuit that involved several Lower Bucks County departments.

The Bucks County radio room received a call about a domestic incident in the 100 block of Andrews Drive in Newtown Borough late Saturday afternoon The caller reported Michael Joseph Miller Sr., 49, of Newtown, picked up a silver handgun and left the Newtown residence to confront a man in Levittown’s Highland Park section, according to court papers.

After a report Miller may have been heading back to Newtown to retrieve more weapons, it was determined he was driving a tan 2003 Dodge Ram pickup truck that was lifted, police said.

A Middletown patrolman spotted Miller’s truck leaving the Highland Park section and turning onto East Lincoln Highway. The 49 year old then allegedly proceeded to turn onto northbound I-95.

The Middletown officer tried to follow Miller’s truck and lost it. He was able to locate it near the Newtown/Yardley exit on I-95 in Lower Makefield and called for backup, court papers stated.

When a Lower Makefield officer responded, the Middletown officer activated his lights to try to stop Miller. The pickup truck kept driving and the pursuit was called off for safety in the area of Langhorne-Yardley Road, police said.

Miller was taken into custody a short time later by Newtown Township and Lower Makefield officers on Andrews Drive.

Court papers do not state if the weapon Miller was alleged to have had with him was recovered.

Miller was arraigned on charges of misdemeanor fleeing and eluding and two careless driving tickets. He was remanded to Bucks County prison on 10 percent of $50,000 bail.
