The Middletown Community Foundation‘s inaugural 5K and 1-mile fun walk Sunday is expected to cause some road closures.
Here’s the message from police:
The Middletown Community Foundation will be hosting a 5k race and 1 mile fun walk on Sunday, October 4th between 8:00 and 10:00 am. The race will start in the Neshaminy High School parking lot and proceed down Old Lincoln Highway to W. Gillam Avenue where it will turn around by Parkvale Avenue. The side streets along the race route will be temporarily controlled until the racers have returned to the high school. It should be less than one hour. Residents of Idlewood Road are asked to use Fairhill Avenue. Grand, Orchard and Ravine will be temporarily barricaded.

The foundation will be using money collected from the race to help fund community service scholarships. The scholarships were established in 2002 as a way to encourage Middletown students to give back to their community. Since its inception, the program has awarded more than $150,000 in scholarships.
