While the two women who have confirmed West Nile Virus cases are from Bucks County, DEP officials do not release their town of residency. Their condition was also not released.

West Nile Virus can cause health complications, but it is often not fatal, according to information from federal health officials. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says on their website that one in five people with West Nile Virus will show symptoms, with less than 1 percent developing the most serious illness.

Officials instruct that using insect repellent andย wearing protective clothing to prevent mosquito bites can help reduce the chances of being bitten.

Since September 1, mosquitoes in Bristol Township, Falls Township and Middletown all tested positive for the virus.

In 2013, a Bucks County man died after contracting West Nile Virus.
