In a move that appeared to surprise Neshaminy School Board President Scott Congdon and top administrators, Acting Superintendent Dr. David Baugh resigned only a few weeks into his one-year contract for the interim position.
Baugh was hired Tuesday night by the Centennial School District. He reportedly made his decision to take the job after an offer was presented right before the Labor Day weekend.

“It has been a real pleasure to be of assistance to you in opening schools and operations work this summer,” Baugh stated in a letter to the board.

Congdon and Baugh met Tuesday evening to discuss the resignation.
Baugh, who came to Neshaminy in July after a several-year stint leading the Bensalem School District, had a one-year contract with Neshaminy that paid him $640 per day. His contract was to run for at least one year or until a permanent superintendent was hired. Congdon did note the contract included an opt-out clause for both parties.

Congdon said other top administrators will take on Baugh’s duties for now. He stated the board was committed to hiring a new full-time superintendent come 2016. The Bucks County Intermediate Unit or equivalent group is expected to assist.
Baugh replaced former Neshaminy Superintendent Dr. Robert Copeland, who left for the Lower Merion School District in Montgomery County toward the end of last school year.
“Unfortunately the position of superintendent has become one of periods of brief stability,” Baugh wrote in his resignation letter.
