Middletown officials announced Thursday that South Flowers Mill Road will be closing forย approximately two months starting Tuesday, September 8.
The road closure will allow crews from James D. Morrissey Inc. of Philadelphia to reconstruct the roadway.

Crews will completely rebuild the roadway. A reduction to one of the steep hills, new shoulders, updated drainage and the addition of retaining walls will be part of the project, officials said earlier in the summer.
“Businesses south of the railroad bridge will have access to and from Business Route 1,” Chief of Policeย Joseph Bartorilla said. “Businesses north of the railroad bridge will have access to and from Maple Avenue.”
Motorists will be detoured onto Woodbourne Road and Lincoln Highway (Business Route 1) during the reconstruction of the roadway.

The work is part of a $5 million bond issue the township approved previously.
