Three Pennsylvania Commonwealth Court judges stated in an opinion released Monday that a Lower Bucks Joint Municipal Authority (LBJMA) worker was literally worked to death in 2007.
The panel of judges ruled in favor of Levittown resident Judith Dietz and her daughter. Their case to claim death benefits after 48-year-old LBJMA worker Robert Dietz died from a heart attack while working a 14-hour day made it to the state court after they filed an appeal to a Workers Compensation Appeal Board decision that denied the Dietzs request for death benefits, according to a wire report.

Reuters reported Dietz’s widow and daughter will receive 60 percent ofย his wages and up to $3,000 for burial expenses.
One of the judges on the panel concluded that Dietz’s November 7, 2007 heart attack death was work-related. It was noted in court papers that “overwhelming circumstantial evidence” showed the “work activities over the course of a 14-hour workday caused his heart-attack,” according to a PennLive.com article.
