In hopes of capturing the male suspect who robbed a gas station and pistol whipped a clerk, Bristol Township police have released surveillance images from the Saturday morning incident.

According to authorities, the Pioneer Gas station at the corner of Route 413 (Veterans Highway) and New Falls Road was robbed by a gun-wielding man at 9:07 a.m. The robber pistol whipped the clerk and caused a head wound that required more than two dozen stitches.

The suspect left the gas station after taking an “undetermined amount of cash,” Acting Lt. Ralph Johnson said.

“The robber fled on foot to the rear of the gas station towards the Wells Fargo Bank where he entered a blue/gray compact vehicle which sped away southbound on Route 413,” Johnson said.

The surveillance images appears to show the suspect, while holding a handgun, shoving the clerk in two frames.

Police described the suspect as a short and stock black male. He was reported wearing what appeared to be a Colorado Rockies baseball hat, a bandanna over his face and khaki shorts.

The gas station has been robbed twice before this year. In one incident, the clerk was assaulted and had to be taken to the hospital for treatment. The clerk also had a cell phone containing images of his wife, who was missing following a massive earthquake in Nepal, taken.  Johnson said the clerk from Saturday’s incident was not the same one from the previous two robberies.
