walmart_logoAccording to a Facebook post by Tullytown Borough police and statements from employees, the Levittown Walmart will be reducing its hours.

The large retailย store will be closing from midnight until 6 a.m. starting Sunday, police said. Officials from Walmart’s corporate office were not immediately available Wednesday night to provide more information.

The large Walmart Supercenter that anchors the Levittown Town Center has been a 24-hour operation since it opened several years back.

Bloomberg News reports on NorthJersey.com that about 40 Walmart stores inย Philadelphia, New Jersey and Maryland will be reducing their hours starting next week.

“Based on a recent review of our customers’ shopping patterns, we have made the decision to adjust hours at some of our stores. This is the kind of decision we make on a store-by-store basis and will allow us the ability to reallocate resources to serve our customers during peak shopping hours,” a company spokesman told Bloomberg News.ย

A similar move impacted stores in Colorado and other areas of the East Coast earlier this week.

The move could lessen the amount of arrests Tullytown police handle. Officers are often at the store dealing with incidents including a slew of retail thefts.

Walmart has lost some steam in the retail space over the past few weeks and has faced controversy over their treatment of workers.

The retail giant that operates roughly 4,500 stores did not post the updated hours on their website. Possible changes to hours at the Bristol Borough and Bensalem stores were not immediately clear.
