Penndel Borough’s chief of police was involved in a multi-agency child pornography investigation that led to the arrest of a Bucks County man on Tuesday.

Chief Joseph Sciscio, who is part of an FBI computer crimes task force, worked on the investigation that led to the capture of 49-year-old Warwick resident Stephen Sottolano. Law enforcement agents from the United States Customs and Border Protection Customs and Border Protection Agency took Sottolano into custody without incident at JFK International Airport in New York City.

New Britain Township police said Sottolano was wanted for 20 felony counts of child pornography and two related offenses. An arrest warrant was issued for Sottolano in November and the apprehension was made Tuesday as the 49 year old returned to America after a business trip to Albania.

Sottolano took part in the sharing of child pornography, police said. The investigation was launched in March 2014 and led to a search warrant being executed at Sottolano’s home.

Including Penndel’s chief, law enforcement from Warwick, the FBI, Customs and Border Protection Customs and Border Protection, Homeland Security Department, NYPD and New York Port Authority all assisted New Britain police in the investigation and arrest.

Sottolano is awaiting extradition to Bucks County to be arraigned on the warrant.
