A Falls Township restaurant was the scene of a fire late Monday morning.

Fire crews were called to the Romano’s Macaroni Grill in The Court at Oxford Valley on Commerce Boulevard around 11 a.m. for reports of a blaze. Initial responders headed into the building while another fire department apparatus stayed on Commerce Boulevard, officials said.

Fire Marshal Rich Dippolito said the blaze happened in the duct work that connects the exhaust system to the brick pizza oven. The fire was quickly put out and caused minor damage to the eatery.

As of 3 p.m., the restaurant remained closed and was expected to open following an inspection by the Bucks County Health Department.

A build up of debris in the duct system was likely the cause of the accidental fire, Dippolito said.
