The group of editors that made waves around the country with the ban of their high school’s mascot from their pages, is now the most honored group of scholastic journalists in the country.
The Playwickian Newspaper class of 2015, also known as the most decorated editors since the start of the student paper in 1932, have also captured more state and national awards than any other co-curricular organization in the history of Neshaminy High School, according to the group’s longtime adviser Tara Huber.

The editorial board’s winners, which consists of: Gillian McGoldrick, Reed Hennessy, Jackson Haines, Madison Buffardi, Stephanie Harvey, Solomiya Syvyk , Monica Dinh and Allison Kaufman, have picked up multiple national and state honors through their pursuit to uphold their freedom to ban ‘Redskins’ across their pages.
In a written sendoff to her editorial board, Huber left a maternal greeting for all to read. “Over time, the lessons learned will outweigh the importance of all the events and the awards,” Huber wrote. “But as your adviser, I have the satisfaction of knowing within the four walls of the newspaper office, journalists fiercely debated, passionately researched and conscientiously arrived at editorial decisions. And you did so with the utmost respect for each other and those you represent.”
