A tax increase of 4.44 mills will cost the average homeowner $139 per year under the new budget, according to district spokesperson Ann Langtry.

The district has seen increased debt service costs, increased special education funding, additional funding for programs, new text book adoptions and increased personnel costs, business manager Dan Rodgers said.

While one administration position will be eliminated through attrition, no district librarians will be cut, as was proposed recently, according to the business manager.

The new spending plan goes into effect July 1 and does not feature state funding, which has not yet been approved in Harrisburg.
