Police Look To ID Man Who Stole Guitar

Middletown authorities are looking to identify a man who walked out of a store with an expensive musical instrument on Saturday.

Police told LevittownNow.com the suspect walked into the Guitar Center on East Lincoln Highway Saturday morning and asked to see a custom Fender Telecaster Thinline (1972 reissue). A store clerk climbed a ladder and brought the $860 guitar down for the man.

After strumming a few notes, the man walked out of the store without paying for the guitar, police said.

Store employees recognized the man as a regular, but they do not believe he has ever made a purchase at the retail location. In the past, he has told staff he is from the Trenton area, police said.

The suspect made off on a adult-size, all terrain bicycle with “TREK” written on it. The bike was reportedly adorn with LED lights strung  “haphazardly” to the frame.

The suspect is described as a white male, 5-foot-10 to 6-foot-tall, “rough looking,” mid-3os to early-40s, of average build with a stubble beard with dark-colored hair. He was last seen wearing jeans with one knee pad and a dark backpack, police said.
