Firefighters battled a stubborn brush fire Thursday evening in Middletown.
Crews from the Langhorne-Middletown Fire Company were dispatched to a brush fire about 1,000 feet behind Danby Lane at 5:15 p.m. Crews arrived to find a sizable patch of woods ablaze, fire Chief Frank Farry said.

Firefighters stretched hoses from engine trucks and used a pickup and field truck to get closer to the flames, Farry said.
In total, a roughly 100 by 350 foot area was involved in the fire. Volunteers used about 3,000 gallons of water in their battle.
By 7:45 p.m., fire crews were back in service.

The chief said the blaze is believed to have been sparked by a camp fire.
