A New Jersey man was sentenced last week in a drug case that ended with shooting.
Brandon Belton, 23, of Willingboro, New Jersey, was ordered to serve two concurrent 24-month probation sentences, one for conspiracy to possess drugs with intent to deliver and the other for criminal use of a communication facility, Assistant District Attorney Daniel Sweeney said.

Belton arraigned a drug deal between a 19-year-old Isaiah Williams and Terrance Hedgepeth, 29, of Mount Laurel, New Jersey, that was to go down on July 23, 2013 at the Orangewood Apartments in Bristol Township, according to court records.
A probable cause affidavit alleges Hedgepeth, who is expected to face trial this week, shot Williams during an attempted transaction involving the sale of one bag of marijuana for $2,900. According to police documents, during the transaction, Williams drew a gun and attempted to rob Hedgepeth, which prompted the 29 year old to shoot.
During police interviews, Belton admitted that he was to receive $300 from Hedgepeth and Williams for arranging the sale.

A friend of Williams’ drove him to Lower Bucks Hospital after the nonfatal shooting.
Belton was charged earlier this year with fleeing and dragging a Riverside, New Jersey, police officer following a traffic stop. The officer was injured after being dragged 30 to 40 feet, police allege. The 23 year old is awaiting trail in that case.
