โI feel so honored to be given such an amazing opportunity, I am still in shock, but I cannot wait to start meeting new people and getting the word out about my platform,โ Hughes said shortly after being selected.
The Miss Bucks County organization explains what Hughes’ role will be over the next year:
During her year as Miss Bucks County, Hughes will travel throughout Pennsylvania advocating her platform issue; ABCs for ASDs which stands for Activities and Afterschool Care for Children within the Autism Spectrum Disorder. She will talk to various government representatives, business leaders, community groups and citizens-at-large, urging them to get involved in the fight for more Activities and Afterschool Care for Children within the Autism Spectrum Disorder.

โSarah embodies the qualities of a role model that young women and girls should have,โ said Cristina Guzman, president of the Miss Bucks County, Miss Montgomery County and Miss Liberty Bell Scholarship Organizations. โSheโs talented, ambitious and accomplished. We are excited about working with her this year.โ
