It’s only happened a few times in the 27 year history of Bucks County St. Patrick’s Day Parade, but officials announced Friday night that the scheduled Saturday parade was cancelled.

The announcement came Friday evening and was blamed on poor weather that is forecasted for Saturday. There is no rain date for the parade, which usually draws thousands of people to the Levittown area.

The annual mass at St. Joseph the Worker Church on New Falls Road in Levittown will still be held at 8 a.m., but the parade will not step off and march up New Falls Road afterward this year. Organizers note the Hoolie will still take place at noon.

Veteran Joe Hogan of Bristol Township was set to be this year’s parade grand marshal and will still be center stage at the festivities. Hogan is being honored for his work in the community.

“It’s truly an honor to represent my community … and we’re going to have a good time, ” Hogan said before the Bucks County Commissioners last week.

The parade marched down New Falls Road to sunny weather in 2014 and through snow showers in 2013. For Saturday, the National Weather Service is predicting up to an inch of rain with a chance of minor flooding.
