Rep. Galloway Seeks To Help Fixed & Low Income Residents With Rebates

Those who are interested in applying or qualifying for property tax rebates or rent rebates are invited to a series of events held throughout the area.

State Rep. John Galloway and his staff will be available to residents on two dates this upcoming month; once from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Bristol Borough Area Active Adult Center on March 5, and once from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Falls Township Senior Center on March 20.

The program, which is funded from profits of the PA Lottery, is meant to help reimburse low and fixed income homeowners for property taxes or rent. The maximum rebate available is $650.

Those who are 65 or older, widows or widowers 50 or older, and permanently disabled adults 18 or older may be eligible for the refunds, depending on their income level. The income requirement for homeowners is up to $35,000, and is up to $15,000 for renters. According to a recent release, only half of the applicantโ€™s Social Security, Supplemental Security and federal railroad Retirement Tier 1 earnings counting toward the limit.

Galloway’s staff, which is trained to help residents determine if they qualify, has asked all who are interested to bring in their 2014 income statements and paid property tax or rent receipts. The deadline to file is June 30.
