Neshaminy High School Advanced Placement Studio Art students Molly McDonald and Emily Frizzelle recently won recognition in the annual Scholastic Art and Writing Awards.

Molly received the Silver Key award for her oil painting titled, “Mother”, and Honorable Mention for her portfolio.
Emily received the Silver Key Award for her acrylic painting titled, “Aviator Girl” and Honorable Mention for two other pieces, “Aphrodite” done in charcoal and “Pastel Snapshot” done in soft pastels.
Both students will receive their awards Saturday, March 7, 2015, during a ceremony in the Gersham Y. Levitt Auditorium at the University of the Arts, South Broad Street in Philadelphia. According to the contest web site, “Since 1923, the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards have recognized the vision, ingenuity, and talent of our nationโs youth, and provided opportunities for creative teens to be celebrated. Each year, increasing numbers of teens participate in the program, and become a part of our communityโ-young artists and writers, filmmakers and photographers, poets, and sculptors, along with countless educators who support and encourage the creative process.โ
