Wilmot replaces Neshaminy graduate Mike Frederick, who led the team for one year prior to resigning this winter. Before Frederick, Mark Schmidt coached the team for more than 20 years.
Wilmot lives in the district with his wife and two children. He had served as offensive line coach, offensive coordinator, and assistant head coach during his time with the Redskins. A district press release said Wilmot “has been regarded as one of the top assistant coaches in the state.”
More from the district:
His offensive lines routinely opened holes for some of the most prominent running backs in school history: Jamar Brittingham (Bloomsburg), Chris Vincent (Oregon), Georg Coleman (Temple), and D’Andre Pollard (Villlanova).
In addition to his offensive expertise, Coach Wilmot is a certified strength and conditioning coach highly regarded for his off-season program. He has guided the off-season strength and conditioning program for his entire career at Neshaminy.
Coach Wilmot grew up in Flourtown, PA and attended Springfield Township (Montgomery County) High School. He played football there and went on to play at Lock Haven University, where he was captain during his senior year.
Coach Wilmot began his teaching career at the Tawanka Learning Center in Langhorne, and is currently a biology teacher at Neshaminy High School. He is married and has two children who attend Neshaminy schools.
Coach Wilmot welcomes the challenge of continuing the Neshaminy tradition of excellence. Having worked for long-time head coach Mark Schmidt, and more recently for Neshaminy graduate and head coach Mike Frederick, he is well positioned for success.
