Councilperson Kathleen Horwatt, who has been a longstanding volunteer herself, helped speak at the event and honor those who have helped save the borough money and helped it grow by volunteering their time and efforts to a variety of programs.

In total, Langhorne helped honor 45 borough citizens, 18 of which received aย Lifetime Achievement Award for volunteering more than 4000 hours of service to the town. Recipients of the Lifetime Achievement Award included Mayor Joe Taylor, Langhorne-Middletown Fire Chief and State Rep. Frank Farry, who could not attend the event due to obligations in Harrisburg, Borough President David Kaiser and numerous others.

Board members from various commissions and groups were also honored with the President’s Volunteer Service Award. The award, an initiative of the Corporation for National and Community Service, is a federal agency that engages more than five million Americans in 70,000 community and faith based organizations.ย Members from over 30 groups in Langhorne were honored.
