Bristol Township crews assisted Bensalem firefighters with a blaze that started in an apartment.
Bensalem Fire Rescue officials posted on Facebook that the fire started in a second-floor apartment in the Tattoos by Bird shop in the 1500 block of Bristol Pike. Crews were summoned to the scene around 1:20 p.m. Sunday.

Volunteer firefighters arrived to find flames shooting from the windows of the building.
No humans were injured, but Examiner.com reports several tortoises, snakes and birds are believed by authorities to have perished in the fire.
Crews from Bristol Township were called to the scene, while crews from Penndel provided temporary emergency coverage in other parts of Bensalem.

Officials said investigators from Bensalem and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives are probing the cause the fire.
