Tuesday was a busy day for one Upper Bucks County woman. Police say she received several calls from elderly Middletown residents wondering why snow wasn’t cleared from their properties as promised.

The woman called Middletown police and reported all the complaint calls that she knew nothing about. An officer reached out to those who complained and uncovered a possible scam.

The residents all reported a man had come to their home before the recent snow storm and promised to clear their driveway and sidewalk after the snow if they paid in advance, police said. While talking to the residents, he gave them the phone number, one which later was discovered to belong to the Upper Bucks County woman.

Police Chief Joseph Bartorilla told LevittownNow.com he’s not sure if the incidents are cases of intentional theft or the man was just unable to fulfill his promises.

Police are still working to determine if the elderly were targeted or if there are other victims that have yet to come forward.

So far, the total amount of money given to the man is around $400

The chief said he wanted residents to be cautious when paying someone in advance for snow clearing services.
