Anyone who suspects that a child is being hurt has the right to report that suspicion, but certain professionals, because of their contact or work with children, have special responsibilities. These mandated reporters are required by law to report suspected child abuse.

A new Pennsylvania law requires all health-related professionals and funeral directors, who are licensed through the Department of State, to receive three hours of training on mandated child-abuse reporting as a condition of renewal for their license. This training identifies the role and responsibility bystanders and care providers play in the prevention, protection and intervention of child abuse.

The training offered by the Center for Allied Health is approved by the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare to fulfill this new requirement. The three-hour course is being offered on the following dates:

  • 6 โ€“ 9 p.m. Wed., Feb. 4, Newtown Campus, 275 Swamp Rd., Newtown
  • 1 โ€“ 4 p.m. Tue., Feb. 17, Newtown Campus
  • 6 โ€“ 9 p.m. Mon., Feb. 23, Upper Bucks Campus, One Hillendale Rd., Perkasie
  • 6 โ€“ 9 p.m. Thu., March 5, Lower Bucks Campus, 1304 Veterans Highway, Bristol
