The official resignation comes weeks after the Bucks County Courier Times and the Doylestown Intelligencer released an article noting the head coach’s resignation. The papers which are run by Calkins Media, cited multiple sources, all of which were unnamed.
NHS Athletic Director Tom Magdelinskas blasted the paper after the article’s release saying, “I find it reprehensible and irresponsible that anyone would engage in speculation with the media without considering the interest of our players. To say such people lack character is an understatement.”
Frederick tenderedย an official resignationย letter to school administrators on Friday, where heย cited concerns that a recent change in his job would prevent him from having the flexibility to coach the team in the future. According to Magdelinskas, Frederick faced unique challenges when coming to Neshaminy, including the realignment of the Suburban One League, a league that now places some of the best schools in the same conference as Neshaminy. Not to mention 18 of the 22 starters from 2013 have graduated.

“Mike took on a student-first, player-first philosophy,” Magdelinskas said. “He was highly concerned with emotional and social development of his players. He brought a tremendous amount of football knowledge, having played with some of the best coaches at the collegiate and professional level. He was able to communicate that knowledge in a positive, effective manner to his players.”
Frederick thanked the district, the assistant coaches and the players for the opportunity to coach the team. While football team members were informed of the decision during the school day, the search for a new head coach will begin immediately.
