Bucks County Technical High School in Bristol Township will be holding its Hope Cuts event this weekend.
The annual event that raises funds for charity will feature 50 cosmetology students practicing their skills with $5 manicures, haircuts, deep conditioning and facials. The fundraiser will take place Saturday from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the school on Wistar Road.

The BCTHS Hope Cuts event was started by instructor Brandee Garnett several years as a way to teach students to give back to their community. The event is co-organized by 2014 BCTHS graduate Shane White.
“My aunt lost her life to cancer after years of battling it. Her strength, faith, and positivity through it all is why I have dedicated myself to City of Hope and Hope Cuts. It gives me hope that one day a cure will be found so that we can put an end to cancer.” said White.
“Hope Cuts is now an on-going part of the schools community service through the SkillsUSA program, students are looking forward to taking part and giving up their Saturday,” according to organizers.

The funds raised will go toward the City of Hope charity, which h elps fund HIV/AIDS and cancer research at the City of Hope National Medical Center & Beckman Research Institute.
BCTHS raised $8,299 for the City of Hope charity last year.
