In order to help the homeless population of Bucks County move towards a better life, Adam Shire and Jeff Drinnan have worked to start up a new non-profit called Bucks County Small Steps.

The nonprofit plans to provide shelter, spread job opportunities, and spread information, according to it organizers.
Shire brings a personal connection to homelessness, from when he was briefly homeless in 2012. Shire currently holds an associates degree in business administration, is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Kaplan University and is expected to graduate in October of 2015.
Drinnan is a volunteer at the Salvation Army Levittown Community Center and is closely associated with Advocated for the Homeless and Those in Need (AHTN).

According to information provided by Drinnan, one of the biggest problems for the homeless community in Bucks County is that of shelter. According to information given by Drinnan, Small Steps plans to add a shelter to help aid the growing population of homeless in Bucks County. Applicants will be subject to screening for criminal, drug, and alcohol histories, and will need to submit to strict words.
“This work is really necessary. I’ve gotten to know many of the homeless, mainly the library people, and see what they go through. I’ve talked with many of them at length over the course of months and I have helped move homeless people when they were evicted. I’ve experienced the exhaustion taking many trips through the woods carrying belongings over rough terrain. Like me, many of the homeless are baby boomers and this is rough for people our age,” explained Drinnan.

The nonprofit is gathering funds at GoFundMe.com and filling out the necessary paperwork to establish a proper nonprofit. According to Drinnan, gaining credibility is the number one goal of the non profit right now.
