A nearly month-long investigation into the distribution of a sexually explicit video involving two juveniles has lead to charges being filed against a 13-year-old girl.
The 13-year-old was charged “as a juvenile with a felony count of distributing child porn via smart phone,” Acting Bristol Township Chief of Police Sgt. Ralph Johnson said Tuesday evening.

The girl is accused of spreading a video showing “sexual conduct between two juveniles.” The video was being passed around by students at Franklin D. Roosevelt Middle School, authorities said.
Johnson said no other juveniles or adults are expected to be charged in connection with the case.
The video came to light in mid-December and was immediately reported police.

In a letter sent home to FDR parents at the time the investigation was launched, Bristol Township School District Dr. Samuel Lee wrote the actions in the video are “inappropriate” and “illegal.”
Police said last month the video is not believed to have been filmed on school property or in district buildings.

“While the temptation to forward such a video from one friend to another could be on your child’s mind, doing so is illegal when those involved are minors. It is essential that you make your child aware of this fact so that he or she does not run the risk of criminal charges,” Lee wrote in his letter.
As LevittownNow.com reported last month, investigators from Bristol Township seized several cellphones as part of their probe. On Tuesday, Johnson said the 12 to 15 phones seized will be “wiped clean of all data before being returned to the owners.”
Guidance counselors were made available for students following the distribution of the video.
